On This Day: Aladdin

November 25, 1992 the GREATEST Disney classic was born and became the highest grossing movie of the year! So to celebrate Aladdin’s anniversary lets talk some awesome fun facts!

1. John Candy, Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy, Martin Short, John Goodman and Albert Brooks at one point considered at one pont to provid the voice of the Genie.

2. Jafar was based on none other than the mistress of evil herself Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty). Like her he carries a staff, has a bird henchman, and transforms into a giant animal in the big showdown.

3. Joe Pesci and Danny DeVito both turned down voicing the parrot Iago, so the role went to the future Alfac spokesman Gilbert Gottfried.

4. The voice of Princess Jasmine, Linda Larkin was nearly fired and had to re-audition for the role halfway inot the film after Katenberg thought she didnt sound “regal” enough.

5. You can spot Pinocchio, The Beast, Sabastian and a hidden mickey in the film

6. Jasmine was the only Dinsey Princess to kiss a villain.

7. The peddler in the movie, was originally planned to be revealed as the genie at the end of the movie. This is why Robin Williams voiced him and also why the peddler share common apperences.

8. Aladdin was the first movie with its own dedicated parade in MGM Studios (Hollywood Studios) called Aladdin’s Royal Caravan Parade, which made its debut December 1992.

9. The original story of aladdin was set in china which would make Aladdin chinese.

10. Scott Weigner, known as Steve Dj’s boyfriend in the show Full House is the voice of Aladdin.

11. Everytime Aladdin lies, his feather falls in his face.

12. The Goofy hat and Hawaiian shirt that the Genie wears at the end of the movie is a node to Robert Williams wardrobe in a short he id for the Disney/MGM Studio tour in the 80’s.

Aladdin is my second favorite Disney classsic of all time, and of course i would watch the Aladdin TV series ( 1994-1995) which Scott Weinger, Linda Larkin and Gilbert Gottfried (Aladdin, Jasmine and Iago) all returned for 85 episodes of the TV series.

Pumpkin Pie Puppy Treat

Thanksgiving is all about being thankful and sharing, last year i decided to find a puppy safe pumpkin pie recipee that i can give to my little ones as a treat on thanksgiving as a gratitude of my love and because why cant puppies celebrate thanksgiving with you? So this is a Pumpkin pie Puppy Treat, but make sure you moderate how many you give them, you dont want them in a little pumpkin pie coma!

  • 3 Tbsp. Peanut Butter

(make sure it doesnt contain xylitol in it, some companies have been adding this into the PB)

  • 1 Cup Flour

(you can use whatever flour is safe for your pup)

  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Cup Pumkin Puree

          (NOT pumkin pie filling)

  • 1 Tspn. Honey

    • Pre Heat oven to 350º
    • Lighty spray a tray of 24 mini muffin tin with pupy friendly spray.
    • Combine PB, Flour, Water and Egg in a bowl and stir well
    • Divide the dough evenly throughout the tray, be sure to press to the bottom and up and along the sides.
    • Add the honey to the pumkin puree and mix well
    • Add your honey pumpkin filling to your crust.
    • Bake for 18-20 minutes until the tops begin to brown.
    • Let the pies cool and serve.

You can place in an airtight container and refrigerate them for a week or you can freeze up to three months. This recipee will make 2 dozen mini puppy pumkin pies so what i like to do is cut the recipee in half or package them and give them to all our puppy friends!

    On This Day: Tangled

It has been 5 years since Tangled came out November 24, 2010! This has to be one of my favorite newer Disney princess, so inorder to celebrate this amazing movie here are some fun facts!

    1. Tangled was Disney’s first animated full legnth computer-animated fairy-tale adventure. It was also Diseny’s 50th animated featue.

    2. This was the first Disney “princess” film to recieve a PG rating from the MPAA. All the other “princess” films by Disney recieved a G rating.

     3. The Director of Tangled, Nathan Greno, began his Disney career as an inbetween artist for Mushu in the Disney film Mulan. Before directing Tangled he also worked on Brother Bear, Meet the Robinsons and Bolt. Nathan also voiced Lefty in Meet the Robinsons.

    4. There is a family resemblance between Rapunzel and her parents. BUT unlike normal families, Rapunzel came first and her parents were designed after her. So in technicality her parents look like her.

    5. Flynn was originally suppose to be names Bastian.

    6. Rapunzel has 70 feet of golden hair and more  than 100,000 individual strands. A special software had to be created to simulate the movement for the hair, because no one had ever animated that much hair before.

    7. 10 women from the prodution grew their hair out during the making of the film, they each cut about 10 inches off of their hair to donate to an organization that makes real-hair wigs for people who’ve lost their hair due to illness.

    8. Rapunzels kingdom was inspired by Mont Saint Michel and the hidden valley was inspired by Rocamadour.

9.Grizzly River Run in Disney’s California Adventure Park was used as inspiration for the water leaks on the rickety wood dam that burst.

    10. In early designs for Pascual he was purple and blue. Eventually the artists thought green was the best because it looked the best with Rapunzels hair and clothes. Also Pascual was almost a squirrel.

    11. Originally the movie was suppose to be called Rapunzel, but in order to market the film to both boys and girls Disney decided to change it to Tangled.

Happy Anniversary Rapunzel, thank you for showingus the true meaning of a frying pan!

    Puppy Talk

I have had pups my whole life, and ive come across tips that work and that dont work. BUT i am always on the lookout to  best help out my furry friend. So here are some recent discoveries and older discoveries that i use!
    1. If your pup eats fast, try putting a ball in their bowl to help slow them down. This definitely worked on one of my dogs but the other one just sat anad looked at it.

    2. A carabiner makes it a quick and easy way to secure your pups leash when you are out in public. I showed this trick to my aunt and uncle and they use it all the time.

    3. Doggy CPR. This is very helpful in a scary situation, luckily i have never had to use it on my pups and hopefully you will never have to use it on yours but it is very helpful thing to know just incase.

    4. Play fetch down hill. My pup Bambi(RIP) loved playing fetch, he was also very hyper and this worked out very well for us and he loved it.

    5. Easily remove pet hair from your carpet by usuing a squeegee. I have never tried this one personally but my aunt has and she says it works.

    6. Know your pups language. If you can read your furry friends body language than its easier for you to help them and know what they might do next and you can stop the situation before it even becomes a situation. This goes for other dogs as well. Read other pups body language.

    7. Baking soda and vinager helps get pet urine out of your carpet.

    8. Know what harms your pup, this is helpful in so many ways because it can keep your furry friend safe.

    9. If your pup hates when you brush their teeth squeeze some dog toothpaste onto a nylabone or a rope toy.

    10. If your pup isnt feeling too well, just add some low sodium chicken broth to their drinking water.

*this helps with puppy dehydration and if they cant keep the food down.

Another fun little suggestion i have done with my pups is make sure i have the vet number in my phone and a 24 hour vet number and address in my phone just to be on the safe side incase anything were to happen.

Disney Did You Know: Mary Poppins

I love the movie Mary Poppins and because it will be returning to TV December 12, 2015 I thought it would be fun to share some fun facts about the movie.

    1. The Sherman brothers, Robert and Richard worked on the music for the film for 2.5 years, unaware the studio did not have the full rights to the book.

    2. In 1961, Travers finally sold the rights to Disney on the condition that she get the script approval rights.

    3. Julie Andrews made her big screen debut in the Disney film Mary Poppins.

    4. David Tomlinson (Mr. Banks) also provided the voice of Mary Poppins parrot head umbrella.

    5. At the begining of the film, some of the nannies waiting in the line to apply for the nanny position were actually stuntmen in drag.

    6. Mary Poppins is the 3rd Disney film that Matthew Garber (Michael Banks) and Karen Dotrice (Jane Banks) co-starred in. The other two movies are Three Lives Of Thomasina (1963) and The Gnome Mobile (1967)

    7. Prior to this movie, Dick Van dyke had never received any type of dance training.

    8. In the film Julie Andrews uses a wig.

9.After the film became a huge hit, Walt Disney studios mae plans for a sequal but P.L Travers turned them down.

    10. At the end of the film, the role for Mr. Dawes Senior first appears as Navckid Keyd which is actually an anagram for Dick Van Dyke. Not only did he have the role of Bert he also played the grumpy old bank president.

Mary Poppins is definitely on my top Disney movie classics, i also really enjoyed Saving Mr. Banks and learning the history behind this practically perfect nanny.

    Did You Know: Toy Story

November 22 1995 Disney/Pixar brought to us one AMAZING film Toy Story so in honor of this awesome movie here are 10 fun facts about the Toy Story Trilogy!

    2. Billy Crystal was originally offered the chance to voice Buzz Lightyear, but declined. After seeing the finished film, he said the decision was the biggest mistake of his career.

    3. Toy Story was originally suppose to be called “You Are A Toy”

    4. Buzz Lightyear’s orginal name was going to be Lunar Larry.

5.Mattel originally didnt want Barbie in the film because they though the film would be a failure. When the film proved a huge success, Mattel allowed Barbie to appear in Toy Story 2 and 3.

    6. Harsbo denied Pixar the use of the name GI Joe when they found out that a GI Joe was going to be blown up by Sid. Pixar used army men also known as Combat Carl.

    7. The number “95” appears a lot throughout the films. This is in reference to the year the original Toy Story was released, 1995.

    8. Toy STory 3 is the first sequel to be nominated for the Best Picture Oscar without any of its predecessors being nominated.

who had passed away in 2000. Clak was good friends with Varney prior to his death.

    Mary Poppins

This Holiday season Everyones FAVORITE nanny is returning to TV for the first time in 13 years! “The Wonderful World Of Disney” presented by Target will braodcast Mary Poppins Saturday December 12, 2015 8pm ET on ABC! This Disney classic has recieved a total of 13 academy award nominations, including Best Picture and wo five, including Best Actress (Julie Andrews), Best Song (Chim Chim Cher-ee) Best Visual Effects, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Music Score.

Even thought it took 13 years of waiting for Mary Poppins to return to TV,  i am most excited none the less to sit on my couch with a bowl of popcorn, a blanket and my dogs and watch Mary Poppins! Itll be like watching it for the first time all over again!

    Packing A Pup Bag: Disneyland

Its that time again, a Disenyland trip with my pups! This is what we pack for the littles!

CERTIFICATION OF VACCINATION:  The first ting we do is make sure the pups Certificate Of Vaccination is up to date. This certificate is important espceially if you are going to board them or put them in the Disneyland Kennel Club you need to make sure there Bordetella, DHPP and Rabbies are up to date.

I have my whole system when it comes to packing the food. 3days times 2 pups=6 cups of food than just to be on the safe side i add 2 more cups.

I also like to pack them there treats which are just the milkbone  bones. This doesnt have a process i just grab two handfulls and toss them in a different bag.

    PEE PADS:

The pups both know how to go outside BUT when they are trained to go on the pee pad, so i use the same equation as the food 3days x 2pups = 6 pads and just incase i add another 4 to get 10 pads because we use one for when they are in the kennel along with the hotel room.

Since they do go in the kennel i bring a blanket from home one for each of them, and the week we are going to leave i make sure to sleep with it in the bed so when i leave them they have my scent with the blankets, i do this because ive read it helps keep them calm and its something familiar they have in a new enviroment

I like to pack 2 toys. When they were younger they each got a little stuffed bear that my cousin and i gave them and that is the ups all time favorite toy so i make sure to bring the bears and i than pack one small rope toy, because they like ropes.

To be honest i just pack one set for each pup because i dont want to worry if i lose the extra set.

I am the crazy bag lady.. i pack two different bags.

Bag #1 is there rolling kennel. I use this incase its gets too crowded or overwhelming when we walk to Disneyland  or in Downtown Disney and they just need a place of reassurence.

Bag #2 is just a small little bag that holds EVERYTHING so pretty much a puppy suitcase

I pack two pop up water bowls, one for the kennel and walks and the other for the hotel room. It makes it easier because one will always be availablefor them.

Food bowls i only have one set of pop up bowls one for each pup, because i will always be with them to feed them so the food bowls can stay in the hotel room.

Everyday is dapper day especially in Disneyland. So i make sure to pack all there Disney bows and bow ties.
