A Disney Legend Birthday

December 13, 1925 a legend was born and today Dick Van Dyke turned 90 and celebrated his birthday in the happiest place on earth…Disneyland.

Because he is a legend there was a whole day of fun festivities planned out. He danced to Step In Time and Rapped to A Spoon Full Of Sugar and when he was done everyone sang Happy Birthday to this amazingly youthful guy who brought so much joy to a lot of peoples if not everyones home.

In Honor of Dick Van Dyke, here are some awesome fun facts about him!

  1. He was born in West Plains, Missouri
  2. Comedian Jerry Van Dyke is his younger brother
  3. Dick performs with an a cappella group The Vantastix
  4. April 14, 1960 he was in the Broadway musical Bye Bye Bridie as Albert Peterson and reprises the role in the 1963 film
  5. He won a Tony Award in 1961 for Bye Bye Birdie
  6.  Served as a U.S Army Air Corps during WW2
  7. In 1964 he won an Emmy Award for a Continued Performance by an Actor in a Series for The Dick Van Dyke Show
  8. In 1964 he won a Grammy along with Julie Andrews for Best Recording for Mary Poppins
  9. In 2012 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award
  10. At the age of 86 he marries his personal makeup artist Arlene silver.
  11. In 1964,1965, and 1966 Dick won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Continued Performance by and Actor in a Leading Role for The Dick Van Dyke Show
  12. He also wins one more Emmy Award in 1977  for Van Dyke and Company.
  13. He released 2 memoirs one May 3, 2011 called My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business and one just recently October 13, 2015  called Keep Moving: And Other Tips About Aging.
