Disneyland’s Frightfully Fun Parade!

First the Headless Horseman and now a new Halloween parade? I don’t think my little heart can take all this excitement!

The parade will start with a warning from the Headless Horseman himself riding down letting us know that his spooky friends from the other side will be coming shortly.

Halloween is one of my FAVORITE holidays aside from Christmas of course and my ALL TIME FAVORITE ride during this holiday season is The Haunted Mansion because it gets a pretty cheerfully spooky holiday makeover by none other than the pumpkin king himself Jack Skelington BUT the pumpkin king has out done himself this year and will be bringing some frightfully greeting from his friends in Halloweentown.

I know this is AMAZING as it is BUT it gets spookier because Jack has let out some Grim Grinning Ghost to socialize, they will be dancing there way down Main Street USA along with some gravediggers, and of course everybody’s favorite’s Gus, Phineas and Ezra known as the Hitchhiking Ghosts.

Of course it wouldn’t be the same without the villains so our favorite bad guys will be coming out of the darkness ready to stir up some trouble! Now all the spooktacular fun will start September 23 and end October 31, 2016 so be sure to get your tickets for this Frightfully Fun party!

Monday Motivation: runDisney (1)

“Venture outside of your comfort zone. The rewards worth it.” Rapunzel, Tangled

I absolutely love this quote, I think its especially perfect for inspiration to get up and do a runDisney event. Now is the time to believe in yourself and venture out of your comfort zone because crossing that finish line is worth it!

So walk, jog, run, sprint or crawl your way to trying something new. If you believe in yourself you can do it! So what runDisney event are you looking forward to running? I believe in you.

Let’s Talk: runDisney Paris

I am so excited Paris is one month away!

For me packing my running gear is already pretty stressful because I have to make sure I pack everything I’m going to need for the run, before, after and during. I like to break it up into lists Before Race, During Race, After Race.

Before Race:

pants, shoes, socks, undies, sports bra, hat, hair tie, arm band, iPod, watch, KT Tape, and headphones.

During Race:

After Race:

roller balls, medicine, sandals

Normally bringing all this is no problem when its a race in Disneyland and WDW i down worry too much because I’m usually the only one running and i can store things in my mom bag, BUT Paris is a whole other story!

This will be the farthest i have gone, I’m trying to make sure that EVERYTHING i need fits into my bag along with my non running clothes. So this trip since i will be participating in the 5k and 1/2 marathon i am planning on bringing two running shoes and pants for the run and everything else i normally bring, but only one roller ball, medicine and no candles. I do plan on brining other shoes and outfits, but as for running shirts I plan on wearing the ones we get from the expo.

Now since it will be my first time in Paris i have to make sure that i make room for all the running goodies and Disneyland Paris goodies that i am planning on bringing home with me. I guess my question to all my runners out there, what are some necessities do you have to have when you are attending a runDisney event? Let me know in the comments below!

On This Day: Oswald The Lucky Rabbit

On this day August 20 1928 the last Oswald cartoon short, Hot Dog was released.

Oswald has had a total of 26 cartoons between 1927 and 1928. Unfortunately Universal had the rights to Oswald up until 2006 when Disney traded Al Michaels for the Lucky rabbit. Now that he is home, you can see him in parks and it was great to be able to welcome him back home where he belongs, BUT the latest new on Oswald he has a girlfriend name Ortensia who is slowly making her way to the parks.

Did You Know: Luxo Jr.

Did you know,

The short film Luxo Jr. which came out April 17, 1986. It was a defining moment for the company in so many ways. It was the first Pixar and first CGI film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short.

Luxo Jr. went on to be a permeant part of Pixar’s logo after the 1995 release of Toy Story. Since the creation of Luxo Jr. and Sr. they have made many cameos in the Pixar films and shorts. For instance, you can see a red version of Luxo Sr. on Andy’s Desk in all three Toy Story films including the 1996 Toy Story Treats short.

Luxo Jr. and WALL-E meet for the first time in a teaser trailer for the film in 2008 when Luxo Jr’s bulb goes out and WALL-E rolls up to replace it.

The Luxo lamp short was based on a real luxe lamp that John Lasseter had sitting on his desk. Although Luxo Sr is male/father he is actually based off of John Lasseter’s mother while Luxo Jr was inspired by Tom Porters son (employee of Pixar) Spencer who was just a baby at the time.

Did You Know?!

Did you know,

Disneyland is 85 acres of land and the guest parking can fit 10,250 vehicles!

I wonder how many cars the new garage will hold!

RIP Kenny Baker

In memory of Kenny Baker who was the actor that played R2-D2 the lovable little droid with a lot of personality which everyone loved, here are some facts about his character R2-D2.

r2 d2

R2-D2 infamously given the ability to fly in the prequel films which bugged a lot of fans. This was roughly explained in other fiction that after the Clone Wars the company responsible for the development of his boosters went our of business. When his rocket boosters were damages they were unable to be repaired.

He was designed by Ralph McQuarrie and co-developed by John streams but actually built by Tony Dyson who ran his own studio called The White Horse Toy Company in the UK.

During Clone Wars R2-D2 was a secret weapon to the republic. In one of his many adventures he joined four other droids in D-Squad: an elite unit tasked with recovering an encryption module from a Separatist ship.

He and C-3PO guest starred in a series of segments on Sesame Street in 1978. The two droids were also features as presenters at the fiftieth Academy Awards.

in 2003 R2-D2 made history by being part of the inaugural class inducted into the Robot Hall of Fame.

May 2014 issues of the Illustrious Smithsonian magazine paid tribute to the iconic robot in an article written by Clive Thompson titled “Almost Human: How R2-D2 became the most beloved robot in the galaxy.”

In the early drafts of Star Wars (1977) script R2-D2 could speak standard english, and had a rather dirty vocabulary. Although all of his english speech was removed many of C-3PO’s reactions to it were left in.

According to Sound Designer Ben Burtt, R2-D2’s signature speech is actually 50% synthesizer and 50% of himself doing baby sounds.

R2-D2 and C-3PO were inspires by the famous comic duo Laurel and Hardy and the two peasants, Tahei and Matashichi from Akira Kurosawa’s 1958 film The Hidden Fortress.

The small actor hiding inside R2 is named Kenny Baker and is less than four feet tall. When Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace was being filmed in 1997, around eighteen R2 units were used, including the costume originally worn by Baker over twenty years before, modified to be more comfortable.

Baker did not actually film anything for Revenge of the Sith, his parts were a mix of CGI and footage recycled from Attack of the Clones.

George Lucas says R2-D2 is his favorite character and that it is intentional that R2-S2 saved the day at least once in every film.

Kenneth George Baker was an amazing actor, not only in Star wars but for all his roles. He was born August 24 1934 in Birmingham, England and unfortunately passed away August 13, 2016 He will always be a hero in my Heart. RIP Kenny Baker and thank you for spreading laughter.

On This Day: Bambi

Bambi was released 74 years ago on August 13, 1942. It was the 5th Disney animated feature. The story is based on an Australian book by Felix Salten.

Bambi was the first Disney projects exploring realism. They had hundred of photographs were taken in the forests of Main as inspiration including shots of: Trees after snowstorms, lights shining in the forest, branches covered in dew, and waster drops falling off of leaves.

Screen shot 2013-02-02 at 12.11.43 PM

The forest fire scene was achieved by painting directly onto cels without inked outlines.

For the movie children provided the voices for the leading characters. Not only is this one of my favorite Disney movies, it was also my first pups name. Happy Anniversary Bambi!
