On This Day: Haunted Mansion

August 9, 1969

The haunted Mansion was born. It was originally viewed as a walk through attraction but became one of the most iconic rides in the park!

According to an official Disney press release from 1969 the Haunted Mansion cost $7 million to develop and build.

There are 999 happy haunts that live in the Haunted Mansion but the number of actual ghost figures in the attraction have yet to be officially counted, but we do know there is always room for one more.

Haunted Mansion is the only attraction to be featured in different lands of the different Disney parks.

In the famous stretching room (Disneyland Ca and Tokyo) guests are actually going down. WDW and Disneyland Paris the ceiling is being raised but guests stay on the same level.

Happy haunting Haunted Mansion!
