The American Eskimo is also known as the ESKIE. They were first recognized by the AKC in 1994. The ESKIE are small to medium size nordic-type dog. They are known for their bright white coats, jet black points (lips, nose and eye rims) and triangle ears.
They were once used as circus dogs but they are primarily companion dogs. The ESKIES participate in confirmation, obedience and agility competitions. The breed originated in Germany where they were referred to as the “Deutch Spitz” bread as an all purpose farm dog.
