April 2017

On this day: Newsies!

One of my all time favorite Disney movies Newsies, based on the New York City newsboys strike of 1899 directed by Kenny Ortega, starring Christian Bales, Bill Pullman, Robert Duvall and many more talented actors and actresses. The movie was released April 10, 1992, 25 years ago.

Before filming began most of he cast trained in dance and martial arts for 10 weeks.

While Jack Kelly is singing “Santa Fe” theres a part where he is riding a horse. The part when his arms are thrown out and he us bent back,he is actually riding on the shoulders of he stunt master.

At the time this was one of the lowest grossing live action movies in Walt Disney Studios history.

The movie became a stage musical which premiered at the Papermill Playhouse in New Jersey in 2011. The music and lyrics by Alan Menken (who composed the movies music) and Jack Feldman (the movies lyricists) and a new book by playwright and actor Harvey Fierstein. March 2012 the musical moves to Broadway and closed two years later: a North American tour launched in 2014.

The dress that Ele Keats (Sarah Jacobs) wears in “High Time, Hard Times” number is an authentic 1899 dress. The costumer had to consistently sew up small holes because the dress was so old and delicate.

The song “King of New York” was written as an afterthought by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and became their favorite song in the movie.

April 10 1992 would have been Joseph Pulitzer’s 145th birthday.

As a prank the boys filled Kenny Ortega’s dressing room with newspapers.

At the end of the week, the newsies took it upon themselves to torment Kenny. When an opportune bucket of water missed it mark, Christian Bale and David Moscow soaked him with, as Ortega described it as “water uzis”.

Honestly if you have not seen this movie i highly recommend it, it is so amazing and magical in its own way. These boys fought for their rights they took a stand to make a change. I did have tickets to see it on Broadway but unfortunately missed my opportunity because of work…

Have you seen Newsies? What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments below.

Disney Legends!

The Walt Disney company will be honoring 9 contributors to the Disney Legacy by honoring them to Disney Legend. The Ceremony will be held at 10am on Friday July 14th in Hall D23 of the Anaheim Convention Center.

The first Disney Legend Award was given in 1987 to Fred MacMurray. The 30th anniversary is this year with these upcoming Disney Legends: Carrie Fisher, Clyde “Gerry” Geronimo, Manuel Gonzales, Mark Hamill, Wayne Jackson, Stan Lee, Garry Marshal, Julie Taymor, and Oprah Winfrey.

They will be receiving a two-foot tall bronze Disney Legends sculpture that signifies the magic they have brought to the Disney Company. Will you be watching as they receive their Disney Legends?

Rumor Has It and New FP!?!

The rumor that literally has me jumping out of my seat, is that Tomorrowland Speedway in the Magic Kingdom park may be taken out and replace by TRON Lightcycle Power Run. Although this is just a rumor, I think this would be such a cool to have this ride in WDW. What are your thoughts? Would you rather keep Tomorrowland Speedway or would you rather have TRON?

Heading over to DCA, there are some FastPass updates or shall i say additions…Toy Story Midway Mania will now have a FP starting April 6 and all i can think about is how fast are these FP’s will go? Now jumping over to Disneyland the Matterhorn will also get a FP system, theirs will open April 28th. New FP are definitely something i will be getting on my next visit because why not?

SP are you excited to have more FP options and what are your thoughts on Tomorrowland Speedway/TRON?  Let me know in the comments below.

Ravens Home!!!

Finally there is more info on the That’s So Raven spinoff which has been rumored for a while now has been confirmed and cast members revealed. Obviously Raven Samone will be returning as the one and only Raven because it wouldn’t be the same if Disney didn’t bring her back along with her partner in crime Chelsea aka Annelise van der Pol.

These two best friends are divorced and raising their families under one roof so i can only imagine the troubles they will be getting into. Raven’s 11 year old twins Booker and Nia will be played by Isaac Brown and Navia Robinson start showing some of Ravens psychic abilities. Jason Maybuam who will play Levi, Chelsea’s 9 year old sone while Sky Katz who will play Nia’s best friend.

Thats So Raven ran for 4 season on Disney Channel from 2003-2007, it was also nominated for two Emmy’s. The shows first spin off was back in 2007 Corey in the House, when Ravens father and Brother move into The White House.

If you are a fan of the show like I am than you can visit the house in San Francisco. Are you excited to see what mischief Raven, Chelsea get in with their children? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Update on Belle!

After three days of not eating and drinking Belle has made progress and i couldn’t be more relieved. She is now eating and drinking on her own, she’s acting more and more like herself  and honestly i can now sleep a lot better at night knowing she is getting better.

Friday is going to be her first cast change and I’m nervous and excited because her cast is a bit dirty and i personally think it looks like its slipping and causing a little discomfort. Thank you so much for all the prayer and love, we really appreciate it.

The Yoga Challenge With Paws!

I have seen so many people do the yoga challenge but there not enough Doga Challenges out there so i decided to add to the fun.

What is Doga?

Its yoga with paws that helps create a better bond between you and your pup. Not only does this help with bonding but it also helps with relaxation, stress while it improves you and your pups circulation and rang of motion.

These are the yoga poses that the pups and i started with to help us ease into this new life of yoga…Doga:

  1. Chaturanga

-Have your dog lay on their tummy and pet their back.

    2. Chair

-Have your pup sit on its hind legs while holding the dog down from behind. Raid the pups front paws in the air.

   3. Forward Bend

-Stand with both feet under your hips, roll and bend forward, hanging from waist with hands and head low. Scoop your pup up to add more weight to bend and increase the stretch.

  4. Heart to Hound Mudra

-Place one hand over your heart and the other hand over your pups heart, close your eyes and breathe slowly.

 5. Savasana

-Have your pups lay on their back and pet their exposed belly.

This was a lot of fun and very relaxing to do with my pups. I can’t wait to do it again them, i even think it might even be a daily routine for all of us. Have you tried Doga?
