A Girl & Her Pups

Grooming Routine!

Puppies are A LOT of fun, you get the cuddles, the love, the kisses and happiness from them. But they are also A LOT of work. You have to train them, take them to the vet, and well get them into a routine which includes grooming! My littles have never been to a groomers, I have groomed them myself their entire lives BUT we recently found the PERFECT grooming routine that works for all of us! It took a lot of trial and error until we got what works for us.

As you can tell my our schedule their teeth and their faces get cleaned everyday, while their nails and ears are done every other day. Belle is white so she gets dirtier a lot faster than my little guy Tarzan does so I give her a bath twice a week. Occasionally depending on what we are doing Tarzan will need a bath as well but thats rare, he’s a very clean little dude.

The trimming part happens twice a week, because with two pups its twice the work. This is what I found easiest for all of us and noticed that they are a lot calmer with the process. I tried to have everything done in one day Sunday was the designated grooming day BUT it was a lot to handle and we were all stressed which was not ok. So finally getting this routine and schedule together took the stress off of all of us. It was a ton of trial and error but I am so glad we have our set routine that works for all of us.What is your routine with your little puppers? I would love to know!

Perfect Paws: Alaskan Malamute

The Alaskan Malamute is one of the oldest sledge dog breeds of the Arctic. The Malamutes come from the Mahlemiut, an Inuit Tribe that settled in Kotzebue sound of the northwestern Alaska. The sledge dog were created to work in packs to haul heavy loads at low speeds over long distances.

Most Malamutes love to dig in the ground and typically don’t bark but they can be vocal. They became the official state dog of Alaska in 2010, thanks to a campaign started by a group of school children. They are energetic and need a lot of excersize, they also need to be groomed 2-3 times a week.

Happy Birthday Belle!

Today is my little Princess 6th birthday! I have to say she has been one of the best little puppers I have owned and these past 6 years with her as been an adventure. We went through low sugar, to a broken paw. Im hoping we don’t have anymore broken paws or bones because its not a fun experience.

She has made me laugh so much due to her being a klutz. She is also the best little cuddle bug ever, she gives the warmest hugs and snuggles. Happy Birthday Princess, thank you for being the best little pupper EVER!

25 Days of Christmas 2017: Day 24

Tomorrow is Christmas! So I thought it would be fun to share a short story/poem.

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.

While the cookies were placed right next to the tree. These two littles had heard and scurried right out of their bed.

They walked down their ramp and out to the hall where their eyes met old St. Nick’s cookies and nog.

As they ate and they drank to their tummies delight, we wish you a Merry Christmas and to all a good night.

We hope you enjoyed this fun little treat you can watch the video we made HERE! Merry Christmas Eve!

Winter Morning Routine: Puppy Edition

Winter is my all time favorite season, because its snuggle weather. This is how the pups and I get ready in the morning!

The alarm goes off at 5:45am. Im the first one up and immediately start the pups food and turn on the heater. I put water in the microwave for about 1min and 30sec than pour it over their food. In that time I do the pups hair, once their food is done they get to eat.

Once they are done eating, they go outside to do their business while I clean their water bowl and fill it up with fresh water and change their pee pad incase they used it. When they have finished outside, they come in and get their teeth brushed.

We than snuggle from about 6:30-6:45, the heater goes off and i’m off to work. This is the hardest part of my day is not snuggling with them the entire day. What are some of your favorite things you do with your pups in the morning during winter?

DOGtober 2017: Day 18

Today we went for a nice walk around the block, slow and steady for the little chub Tarzan. Honestly, he is doing great and has recovered perfectly, but I’m still following the vets orders and he’s not allowed a ton of excercise and hard food until the 14 days are up.

His gums look amazing and his sister is all about being his little shadow again which I love because they are the cutest. The pups and I also did more 13 Nights of Halloween things because tomorrow is the start of DIY’s, recipes and fun fact about this spooktacular season! Thanks for joining us for our first ever DOGtober and we hope to you continue to follow us during 13 Nights!

DOGtober 2017: Day 17

Today the pups and I made a bow, and than laid on the couch and watched TV. We have been running around with our heads cut off all this morning so I thought it would be a good time to sit and take a breather before we get back into the swing of things tomorrow.

Tarzan’s gums looks great! They aren’t swollen and Belle is back cuddling with her brother and it fills my heart.

DOGtober 2017: Day 16

Today was a crazy day for the pups and I! Since we are only three days away from 13 Nights of Halloween, we were doing a lot more preparations for those up coming blogs!

Tarzan is still recovering beautifully, unfortunately he really hates his liquified food and just wants to eat his sister but he has one more week of it. He did however like the pumpkin spice pupcakes I made tonight which we will be posting up the recipes in a couple more days. I honestly can’t wait to show you all the crafts the pups and I have been working on!
