Hypoglycemia or low blood sugar is when your pets blood sugar drops and becomes too low and potentially a life-threatening for your pet. In most animals Hypoglycemia is actually not a disease in and of itself but is only an indication of another underlying health problem. If you suspect Hypoglycemia you need to treat it as quickly as possible before it becomes life threatening.

Golden Retriever puppy

  • Loss of appetite (anorexia)
  • Increase Hunger
  • Visual Instability
  • Disorientation and Confusion
  • Weakness, Low Energy and Confusion
  • Seizures (rare)
  • Anxiety, Restlessness
  • Tremor, Shivering
  • Heart Palpitations

If you notice any of these symptoms be sure to contact your vet IMMEDIATELY, to get there blood tested, if your dog has already loss consciousness call your vet for some at home treatment and of course followed by a visit with a Dr. Unfortunately Hypoglycemia is common in smaller dog breeds.

My two little pups have actually experienced this many times when they were a couple of months old. Whenever they got too cold, or if we did something outside our routine. I have Nutri Cal and a 24 hour vet number on hand just incase. Thankfully they have recovered and have not had an episode since they have turned one, but in precaution I always have a tube of Nutri Cal in the house or in my purse/travel bag.

If you have any questions be sure to call your vet immediately or if you would like to know a little bit more about my experience with my pups feel free to leave them in the comments below.

What’s In My Purse: Puppy Edition

I think I may be completely obsessed with my pups…Everytime the pups and I go on an outing or when they come to work with me I always pack my purse/bag with my puppy necessities…so without further ado here is what’s in my purse!

*i like to use the pop up water bowls because they save a lot of space.

*i personally think this is a puppy necessity so no matter what there are treats everywhere! I like using old Tic Tac containers because it’s very portable, easy to fill and comes in handy.

*again it’s a necessity so for me, I can’t walk away from my pups poop, so these come in handy and I find the bags EVERYWHERE!

*i personally like having wipes with me incase things get messy they are an easy fix until we get home.

*normally carry the pups little bear toy, but the toy varies occasionally.

*a necessity no matter if you have a pup or not, but I do keep there dog tags and ID in my wallet at all times. Yes my dogs have an ID.

Let me know what you keep in your purse or bag for your pup! I’d love to hear what things you bring because I might have to start bringing it!

Puppy Update!

It’s been a while since I talked about my favorite fur babies, and thought it would be fun to do an update on them.

First things first they got new leashes and not any leashes….DISNEY, leashes because I LOVE DISNEY!!!

Belle: Villain and Princess leash which is perfect for her.

Tarzan: Steamboat Willie which suits him very well.

I am hoping to start a Disney leash collection for them because why not? I think it would be fun.

Tarzan just turned 4years old on Frb. 25, which is so exciting we through him and my mom a little birthday party which was nice. Belle will be joining Tarzan as a 4yr old in 4 months and I can’t wait because I’m so used to saying they both are the same age.

The last update is the pups have learned a new trick! They know how to weave in and out of my legs as I walk, they don’t have it down 100% yet but I would say they have it about 90-95%! So I’m really proud of them for getting it so quickly and I think it’s one of the coolest tricks they know.

Puppy Christmas Eve!

Welcome back guys to the second to last day of blogmas it is day 24 and Christmas Eve!!! Since my intermediate family and I open presents on Christmas Eve so I thought it would be fun to share what the pups got!!!

Since its been pretty chilly in the city I thought it was only necessary to buy them some warm winter attire and why not make it stylish right?

I have been looking for a harness for my littles ones for about three years, BUT my parents came across this one and even though it’s a smidget too big on them, I can easily fix it to make it a perfect fit! So far this is the BEST harness that is quite comfortable and doesn’t bug them!…so far!

What are some things you bought for your furry friend?? Be sure to leave it in the comments below!

Harness vs. Collars

Blogmas day 22!

What makes a harness better than a collar, or a collar better than a harness?

Personally I think it depends on your dog, my little girl is actually very sensitive to harness and prefers collars but my little man prefers harnesses over collars. Obviously I’m not a dog expert but here are some pros and cons to both!

These days I see a lot of puppies with harnesses they look very comfy and fashionable. If your pup pulls or has breathing problems a harness is recommended. It is also recommended for the smaller breeds and breads with shorter muzzles to wear a harness because a collar could be damaging to their necks. A harness is also better for your pup if they pull a lot or have breathing problems already.

There are many different types and style of harness, you have ones that clip in the back or ones that clip in the front. For bigger breeds it is recommended to get the front attachment harness. The smaller breeds the back attaching harness is recomended because the front attaching harness can be painful and damaging.

Collars are more of a traditional route for pups. A collar isn’t recommended for dogs that pull, lunge, have breathing problems, training or if they are at risk of their tracheal collapsing.

There are a couple different collars you can buy, regular collars, martinage and more, but one called a martingale(slipper collar) which is typically used for greyhounds, whippets and afghan hounds because of their build.

I know when I first got my littles I didn’t know what one to use and they both had harnesses than collars and one each, for their own comfort. Is a whole trial and error process when it comes to pups because each one is different. What do you use for your pups? Let me know in the comments below!

Christmas Outfits

Blogmas day 20,

I don’t know about any of you BUT I am totally obsessed with dressing my pups up. It won’t be dresses and things all the time those are for special occasions. But sweaters, jackets and bows are an everyday necessity, so why would Christmas be any different?

This year I bought the pups matching pj’s, The pj’s are exactly the same not purposely but by accident i think they are so warm and cozy looking and definitely cuddle material. This will be worn Christmas Eve to Christmas morning after the Disneyland Christmas Parade.

Since we have a family dinner, gift exchanges and our annual family games the pups have to look there best!!! So I bought them these really cozy warm and fuzzy plaid sweaters with a hoodie. Tarzan got grey and the princess has red. Princess Belle definitely needed a bow for the cherry on top.

The ugly sweater is a competition we play where we wear them for an hour and vote on who’s the ugliest sweater trophie goes too, so why not get the pups involved it’s the cutest thing ever!

Do tou have a special holiday outfit like my pups? Let me know in the comments below!

Bath Time

Blogmas day 16

Bath time is super important!! Well for me at least.

I bathe my pups once a week, and I love using the Martha Stewart line if shampoo. It makes the pups coats super soft and nice looking and I love the way it makes them smell!!

I do use conditioner in then to help the matts stay away and a lot less tangles to deal with, I am love thes products and they work well with my pups! So until otherwise this is the shampoo that we use and love.
