13 Nights of Halloween 2018: Day 4

One thing I also love about Halloween is sitting by a fire, with a blanket, my pups and a really good book but for this time of year it has to be a bit on the spooky side. So here are my favorite Disney Halloween Books!

Tales of the Haunted Mansion:

  • There are three books, Fearsome Foursome, Midnight at Madame Leotas, and Gim Grinning Ghosts.
  • It was published July 19, 2016 by The Disney Book Group. It’s really good and I suggest reading to it or they do have audio books available and I have both versions but I like to put on the audio version while Im doing homework because I feel like I am doing homework in the Haunted Mansion.

Hocus Pocus and the All New Sequel:

  • Written by A.W Jantha is another spook read of I hope everyones favorite witches. The story does start out b telling the original story of Hocus Pocus and makes its way to the new story. I absolutely love it and have re read it three times since it first cam out July 10, 2018.

The Halloween Tree:

  • Written by Ray Bradbury and Gris Grimly originally published in 1972 tell the story of the meaning of Halloween. I absolutely LOVE this book and one of the reasons why I chose this book as a Disney book is because In Frontierland they have an Oak tree they started decorating with lights and jack o’ lanterns in 2007 for the books 35th anniversary called the Halloween Tree. Ray Bradbury was also a huge fan of Disney and even wrote screenplays for Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) and The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit (1999). So the books is technically part of the Disney family.

Have you gotten a chance to read any of these books? Let me know your favorite spooky book.

Plaza Inn Halloween Treats 2018!

You can find three spooktacular treats at The Plaza Inn on Main Street USA. They all cost $5.99 each, so make sure you save some room after the fried chicken!

Main Street Mickey’s Pound Cake:

  • Blueberry compote filling and cookie crumbles surrounded with whipped cream and topped mint with black sugar turning the cake into a jack-o-lantern.
  • Chocolate Hazelnut Yule Log:
    • A returning specialty of the holiday season. A chocolate cake with a hazelnut frosting and a delicious and spooky frosting.
  • Halloween Minnie Mouse Cake:
    • Cinnamon and praline bundt cake with an apple center finished with an orange colored glaze and sprinkles.
  • These are super delicious but my favorite has to be the Chocolate Hazelnut Yule Log which is crazy because I’m not a huge hazelnut fan but this just is perfection to me. Do you dare to try these spooky treats?

  • The Spirit Of Halloweentown!

The Spirit of Halloweentown takes place in St. Helens, Oregon because they were proud to have the DCOM Halloweentown film there and since then have put on the Spirit of Halloweentown. Each year the town decorates itself like the movie, and each year it gets bigger and bigger, and KJB (Marnie) has been attending for a while now.

In 2016 when Debbie Reynolds passed they even did a tribute for her where the Cromwell Family attended the event to pay their respect to Grandma Aggie. This year is the 20th anniversary of the movie (October 17, 1998), this year though, the entire cast will be there including Kalabar. The cast of Halloweentown will be in St. Helens October 13, 2018.

So if you want to join the celebration or learn more about the festivities check out their website! I am hoping to make it out this year because I love Halloweentown and have been trying to get out there since forever. Will you join in St. Helens Halloweentown festivities?
