4th of July with pups!
As fun as the 4th of July is for humans, it could be just as stressful for our furry friends. Here are some suggestions that have helped make my littles lives less stressful on this holiday.
Exercise:
I like taking a nice long walk, hiking, and getting up and moving with the pups. I like to make it a longer walk/hike than I would on a typical day just because I know how much anxiety they could have during the commotion.
Tags/Microchip:
If your pups get scared and escape from the yard/house, keep their tags on or get them microchipped. Just in case they escape, they have all the information on them.
Safe Zone:
This one is my favorite—a safe and quiet space for your pups to go if they feel overwhelmed. I have a dark and quaint space for my littles during significant events. I keep it dark, small, and filled with their favorite things. I usually sleep with the blankets days before so it has my scents on them so they will feel more comfortable. I also have calming music playing in the area. I do this not only for the 4th of July but in any situation they may feel overwhelmed. What do you do for your pups during the 4th of July?
