Grooming Routine!

Puppies are A LOT of fun, you get the cuddles, the love, the kisses and happiness from them. But they are also A LOT of work. You have to train them, take them to the vet, and well get them into a routine which includes grooming! My littles have never been to a groomers, I have groomed them myself their entire lives BUT we recently found the PERFECT grooming routine that works for all of us! It took a lot of trial and error until we got what works for us.

As you can tell my our schedule their teeth and their faces get cleaned everyday, while their nails and ears are done every other day. Belle is white so she gets dirtier a lot faster than my little guy Tarzan does so I give her a bath twice a week. Occasionally depending on what we are doing Tarzan will need a bath as well but thats rare, he’s a very clean little dude.

The trimming part happens twice a week, because with two pups its twice the work. This is what I found easiest for all of us and noticed that they are a lot calmer with the process. I tried to have everything done in one day Sunday was the designated grooming day BUT it was a lot to handle and we were all stressed which was not ok. So finally getting this routine and schedule together took the stress off of all of us. It was a ton of trial and error but I am so glad we have our set routine that works for all of us.What is your routine with your little puppers? I would love to know!

Perfect Paws: Alaskan Malamute

The Alaskan Malamute is one of the oldest sledge dog breeds of the Arctic. The Malamutes come from the Mahlemiut, an Inuit Tribe that settled in Kotzebue sound of the northwestern Alaska. The sledge dog were created to work in packs to haul heavy loads at low speeds over long distances.

Most Malamutes love to dig in the ground and typically don’t bark but they can be vocal. They became the official state dog of Alaska in 2010, thanks to a campaign started by a group of school children. They are energetic and need a lot of excersize, they also need to be groomed 2-3 times a week.

Happy Birthday Belle!

Today is my little Princess 6th birthday! I have to say she has been one of the best little puppers I have owned and these past 6 years with her as been an adventure. We went through low sugar, to a broken paw. Im hoping we don’t have anymore broken paws or bones because its not a fun experience.

She has made me laugh so much due to her being a klutz. She is also the best little cuddle bug ever, she gives the warmest hugs and snuggles. Happy Birthday Princess, thank you for being the best little pupper EVER!

Pawfect Apple Pie!

In honor of Belle’s Birthday tomorrow which is why I thought it would be fun to make her an apple pie! So, if you want to join us in celebrating her birthday or just want to make it for your fur baby here is everything you need!

What You’ll Need:

  • Bowl
  • Spoon
  • Flour
  • Coconut Oil
  • Apples
  • Milk
  • Cornstartch
  • Cinnamon
  • Unsweetened Apple Juice
  • Lemon Juice
  • Mini Cupcake Pan

Pre-heat your oven at 350º while you start working on the crust and the filling!

Crust:

  • 1 1/4 C Flour
  • 1/4 C Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 C Milk

Mix until the dough is formed. It shouldn’t be sticky and dry, if its dry slowly add in some water if it’s sticky slowly add some flour until its its the prefect dough consistency. Once you have your dough line your cupcake with your dough and set aside to start the filling.

Pie Filling:

  • 3 peeled, cored, and sliced apples
  • 2/3 C unsweetened apple juice
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 Tablespoon cinnamon

Place the sliced apples in a little bit of lemon juice so they don’t turn brown. Add 2 tablespoons of unsweetened apple juice and cook on low hear until apples are soft.

In a small bowl add cinnamon, cornstarch, and the unsweetened apple juice and whisk together. Pour it into the hot apple mixture and let it simmer for 10 minutes.

Place the filling into the crust, and place it in the over for 25-45 minutes or until the crust turns a golden brown. Let it cool and serve!

We hope your pup enjoys this puppy apple pie!

SHOO Natural Review!

I have been searching for years for a shampoo that I could trust for my pups. As you can imagine there has been a lot of trial and errors, the shampoo worked and I was allergic to it or vise-versa. Then I came across Shoo, they are a natural and vegan shampoo that works wonders. I loved everything the product offered so I bought Regular Shampoo, Eucalyptus Shampoo, Wild Orange Shampoo and Natural Eucalyptus conditioner. Here is what they do:

  • Wild Orange-Calm and detox. Its filled with vitamin C supports immune system function, eliminates toxins and supports collagen formation in the skin. It helps kill bacteria and keeps fleas away without harmful chemicals.
  • Regular Shampoo- Extra sensitive skin. It has all natural coconut based shampoo. It maintains the skin balance without dryness, stimulates hair growth and strengthens hair. This is ideal for fragile and sensitive dog skin.
  • Eucalyptus- Pet odor control. Because of the fresh and distinctive smell it perfectly controls pet odor and de-skunking. It also helps heal cuts, wounds and skin infections while preventing bug and insects. It’s effective against bacteria and stimulating the mind.
  • Eucalyptus Conditioner- It helps detangle and condition the fur. It promotes coat and skin health, leaves the coat soft and silky while preventing static, relieves stress and soothes your pup. Eucalyptus helps relieve skin irritation, itchiness and reduces skin redness.

I loved everything that I read about the products and decided to take a leap of faith even though it was going to cost me $34.95. This was the most I have EVER spent on shampoo, but I was hopeful it was going to work…and I really wanted it to. Thankfully it did. Not only did I see a major change in my pups coats but they smelt AMAZING and really enjoy bath time. This is the PERFECT shampoo for my pups and worth every penny. Although, I have not finished these bottles of shampoo’s and conditioner I decided to place another order. The One For All and All For One which includes: Regular Shampoo, Cedar-Wood Shampoo, Eucalyptus Shampoo, Wild Orange Shampoo and Lavender Shampoo and it was only $8 more than my first purchase. If you are struggling to find the right shampoo for your fur babies I would highly suggest trying Shoo out, it is expensive BUT I saw a difference the first wash.

What To Do:

  1. Whisk together eggs, milk, honey, and butter
  2. Mix in the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until you are left with a thick pancake mix
  3. Heat up a pan (I grease with coconut oil) and place the batter inside a heart shaped cookie cutter
  4. Wait about 1-2 minutes until bubbles form and flip
  5. place it in your pups bowl and serve!

Helpful Hints:

  • The batter makes about 10-12 pancakes depending on the size
  • Use a stainless steal cookie cutter and grease both sides
  • If you only have a plastic cookie cutter make a normal round pancake and cut out a heart chape
  • The “syrup” is s drizzle of pineapple juice over their pancake

Happy Valentines Day!

Essential Oils: Day 1

I am so excited that the essential oils came for the pups. I bought the Pain Relief and Calming because both my littles have arthritis. Belle has it in her right shoulder and Tarzan has it in his back legs.

The oils came just in time for their dinner, so I added a drop of the pain relief to both their dinner. I am paranoid whenever I change anything with my pups, so I am making it a point to look out for any signs that the oils are not sitting well with them. Honestly, I am hoping this works and makes their daily life a little bit easier.

Since it is the first day I know I won’t see any difference with them, but of course, I will keep tabs on how they are acting and following any reactions or differences I see in them. Have you tried any essential oils with your fur babies?

Dog Essential Oils?

Did you know that Dogs had essential oils? Me either, until I cam across Healthy Paws Herbal. I read a lot of good reviews about them and I LOVE essential oils myself so I figure why not buy some for the pups.

Healthy Paws Herbal offers three different essential oils: Allergy Itch Relief, Pain Relief, and Calming. They have two prices 1oz bottle is $14.99 and the 4oz bottle is $39.99. It is pretty pricey but so are the essential oils when you buy them for yourself.

Since Tarzan has arthritis in his back legs and Belle has it in her left shoulder I definitely knew that I was going to try out the Pain Relief. Angelicae, Gentianae Marco, Saposhnikoviae are all anti-inflammatory and analgesic to reduce pain and help healing. Eucommiae, Taxilli, and Cyathulae, help strengthen bones, muscles and joints to help slow down degeneration. It has so many great natural qualities that I hope will help ease the pain they do have. Im hoping it gets here soon so I can try it!

Puppy Haul!!

So my little man had gotten dental work where he was left with only 5 teeth. Unfortunately, my little one’s gum is a bit sensitive, so eating has been a bit of a complication and hard work to get his food just right for him to eat. So here is what I bought him to make his food a little bit more appealing and softer for his gums.

SweetPotatoes_.jpg

GERBER:

  • Apple blueberry
  • Banana
  • Pumpkin banana
  • Sweet potato

Pineapple.jpg

Pineapple Juice:

  • 100% pure pineapple juice

51AQLfncOSL.jpg

Broth:

  • Chicken
  • Beef

I am still in the trial and error stage for him, so some meals he LOVES and others not so much. Usually, I soften up his food, add some pineapple juice, and one of the Gerber foods along with some broth on top. It works out for the most part, and he chomps it right up with no problem. I hope it continues well because I now have a TON of dog food in my house.
