Spooky House Competition 2023

It is that time of year again where the cousins old and new come together in our blood curdling competition to see who can make the spookiest spooky house of the year! I absolutely LOVE this tradition and look forward to hanging out with everyone. Unfortunately, one of our cousins wont physically be there BUT we will have him on FaceTime. It wouldn’t be a competition without a movie marathon and this years theme is Universal Classic Monsters.

Once the movie started we pulled out the glue guns and started on our house! There were a lot of laughs and distractions due to the movies playing but we had a blast. This time Grandma decided to participate and she built her own house just to show off her skills. She got frosting EVERYWHERE and of course helped the youngest cheat and threw things at everyone’s house to ‘help’ them. We ended about three hours after we started and the house was a complete mess and we all looked ridiculous but we had lot of fun.

The ranking this year is the same as the others: Look, Creativity, Stability and favorite grandchild/great grandchild. My grandma was impressed by all of them BUT there could be one spooky house winner. So she cut throats and a great grandchild took the title this year. I will say he did a great job. He went with American Psycho so when he presented his house he stabbed it and red candy and frosting oozed out. It was really cool.

I can’t wait to see how messy we are going to get when it comes time for pumpkin carving!
