Blogmas 2023: Day 30

Happy New Years Eve!

I cannot believe it is time for the new year. Like every year, here are some tips and tricks to help your furry friend stay calm as we head into 2024.

24 Hour Vet:

Hopefully nothing happens and everyone stays safe BUT BE PREPARED! Find your closest 24 hour vet and put all their information in your phone. So, incase of an emergency you have everything already ready and can get to your furry friend to hospital faster.

Exercise:

Exercise is a great way to get out all the energy and keep them calm. Whether it is for a party or for the fireworks or maybe both. Go for a long hike, run or walk. Longer and more intense than what you would normally do.

Safe Place:

Set up a safe place for your pup. Somewhere dark and soothing. Personally, my pups safe place is in my room. I usually have calming music playing, a lavender sent in the room, blankets and of course their new soothing toy with a heart beat. It just has to be a comforting place they know they can go to if they want to and no one will bug them. They have water and their favorite blankets and toys to help keep them calm.

Precautions:

It is not ideal to leave your pup outside but if you must make sure that they have a collar with an ID on it. I would also suggest it if they are great escape artists from inside the house as well. Check your fence and gate to make sure they are secure and locked. Make sure all windows and doors are secured and closed

Keep decorations, foods, fireworks, drinks out of reach of your pup. You don’t want to end up spending the New Year at the Vet. With that being said, I wish you all the BEST New Year. Stay safe and healthy and have a great time!
