Let’s Take a Trip!
I surprised my mom for a quick getaway. This month is about treating yourself, but I said I would do something nice for someone. It just so happens to be my mom. She has been working hard, fighting for her happiness without asking for anything. She is currently going through a divorce after 32 years of marriage, and with the amount that she has to deal with right now, I know she is struggling with keeping her head above water. So, I packed some clothes, picked her up, and drove to Carmel by the Sea in a pup-friendly hotel, Cypress In.
My mom loves the beach and exploring and running in new places; I thought this place would be the PERFECT getaway for her. We went for walks and hikes, sat on the beach, ate delicious food, and read so many books! I knew she was looking at a couple of books, so I purchased them for her. I also made her a brand new Spotify playlist of motivational and uplifting songs. Her current favorite song is Nauseous by The Rose, which is my favorite as well, so on the drive, we blasted the song!
For the first time in a long time, I saw her relax and completely enjoy herself. She looked happy and fully enjoying her time away from reality and that is honestly all I could ask for her.

“Days when you hate yourself, days when you wanna disappear, let’s make a door in your heart. If you open that door and go inside, this place will be waiting for you. It’s okay to believe, it’ll comfort you, this magic shop.”
