Magical Rewind: Brink! (1998)

Magical Rewind #4

Brink! was released August 29, 1998. Andy “Brink” Brinker (Erik von Detten) is the leader of a group of inline skaters who disapprove of corporate sponsorship, believing that skating should be done for fun rather than profit. But when Brink’s family starts having financial problems, he’s forced to compromise his principles and join a sponsored team led by the arrogant Val (Sam Horrigan). Not knowing his motivation, Brink’s friends are stunned by the decision and collectively shun him until the truth comes out.

Brink! is where I found my love for skating. I, of course, watched this movie and became completely OBSESSED with rollerblades. I would go to skate parks and fly downhill because I desperately wanted to be a soul skater. Skating was my life; hills, ramps, and going fast down the streets were my thing. I LOVE this movie, and I still find it just as impressive. During the start of the pandemic, I went out and purchased rollerblades again and discovered my love for skating. Let me tell you, this was the BEST decision of my life. Rollerblades are still just as amazing as when I was younger and saw this movie for the first time. Are you Team X Blades or Team Pup and Suds?
