Let’s Move: Check In #1

Shoes and workouts!

I FINALLY GOT FITTED FOR A PAIR OF RUNNING SHOES! This is HUGE! I have been an active runner since 2014 when I started my running journey with a whopping 48.6 miles in four days, also known as The Dopey Challenge in Walt Disney World. I ran in decent shoes, but they were not the best because I did get runner’s toes, and my poor feet died. I was a newbie to running and obsessed with the medals. Trust me when I say I signed up for every challenge I could sign up for. It was back-to-back, and I never got fitted for shoes. This year, after my complete death on the course, I got fitted at my local running shop, and let me tell you, this changed my life.

When I walked in, they asked what type of running I did, how often I trained, and other questions to get a sense of what type of runner I was. Once they got my size, they gave me a pair of quick running shoes and had me run outside, and they filmed me to see how I ran. This was the most insane video of my feet I have ever seen. I immediately noticed how unstable my ankles were. They brought out shoes to help stabilize my ankles and make running easier. I tried on A LOT of supportive shoes and went out and ran. I tried on another pair, went out, ran, and continued with this process until I narrowed it down to the Ons. I purchased the On W Cloudrunner Iron and Eclipse. They were the most comfortable shoes that I have ever experienced running in.

Along with two pairs of shoes I have purchased, I bought insoles. This was a HUGE shocker for me, and when I told my mom, she immediately hit me because she tried to put me in insoles ever since I was younger. I immediately fell involved with the currexSole RUNPRO Insole Red S. This made me LOVE my shoes even more. One thing I noticed while trying on shoes was that the Ons felt like an extension of my body. They were light and comfy, and I did not feel like I was wearing any shoes. I have had these for over a month and have been running daily. They feel just as unique as when I first tried them on. Running is not a dreadful task anymore. I have a new appreciation for running and my running shoes.

If you want to get into running, start slowly and get fitted for running shoes. They make a HUGE difference. I am running one mile a day because I am coming off an injury and a little nervous about jumping into a longer run. I am foam rolling when I get home, and I am making sure I am drinking water. As you may know, I get dehydrated super easily. Stay hydrated, replenish your electrolytes, foam roll, stretch, and enjoy the journey!
