Genius (August 21, 1999) is about Charlie’s a child prodigy who’s been offered lots of scholarships, but chosen a little known one to work with a scientist he admires. The work is fascinating, but his social life stinks! Trying to get something like a normal life, he also enrolls in a local school and pretends to be an average student. He’s cool for the first time, but attending school and college at the same time is tricky, and soon someone is bound to find out.
I remember watching this movie when I was younger but I don’t remember anything about it. Rewatching it did spark a lot of memories but wow! It was interesting. He is in college but I don’t think he is actually a student because throughout the movie he is only WORKING! So, was the acceptance letter for the job? Is it just me or is never just a student? Let me know. Moving past that and getting into hockey, Charlie basically created a hockey stick that is essentially a weapon. This hockey stick is supposed to allow the player to send the puck flying with a simple touch and in the movie the puck goes flying and in the distance you hear a guy yelling in pain. As he creates all of these things, I think its cheating. All throughout this film, is cheating. It could be just me watching this as an adult but, again, let me know. My other question is why don’t the refs do anything about it, they just let all of this shenanigans happen. This movie is pretty crazy and all over the place in my opinion, did I enjoy it? Yes. Will I watch it again? Probably, it is not the worst movie I have seen but it was definitely a rollercoaster of a movie. What are your thoughts?
