The Craft (May 3, 1996)

After transferring to a Los Angeles high school, Sarah (Robin Tunney) finds that her telekinetic gift appeals to a group of three wannabe witches, who happen to be seeking a fourth member for their rituals. Bonnie (Neve Campbell), Rochelle (Rachel True) and Nancy (Fairuza Balk), like Sarah herself, all have troubled backgrounds, which combined with their nascent powers lead to dangerous consequences. When a minor spell causes a fellow student to lose her hair, the girls grow power-mad.
Not only is this one of my favorite movies of all time but also the cousins as well. We can quote this movie like nobody’s business and we do. It has a lot of stunning actors and actresses that help bring this movie together BUT Nancy, yes, Nancy, is a cousin favorite. She is crazy and she rolls with it.
This movie to me is deeper than just the witchcraft and deals with some traumatic experiences with each of the main characters. Bonnie is trying to find her confidence even though people think she is a freak and make fun of her. Rochelle has to deal with racism. Sarah is dealing with the death of her mother and moving to a brand new place. Nancy is the ‘slut’ of the group and is not only dealing with people talking about her at school but also has to deal with her step father who is mentally and physically abusive to her and her mom and her mom is a drunk. These girls go through a lot and when they are doing a witchy ritual, they address what they would like it to change in their lives and you really get to see who they are.
Honestly, if you have not seen this movie, I think you should check it out. If you do watch it, please let me know your thoughts! “We are the weirdo’s, Mister”
