The Next Prince (2025)
The nation of Emmaly is known for its abundance, both by land and water. Emmaly is ruled by a monarchy and is divided into five regions and leaders. According to royal law, each region must send an heir to compete in order to become a monarch. The winning heir’s father becomes the new king of Emmaly. This story follows the crown prince and heir Khanin of the Atsawathewathin royal family and his royal bodyguard Charan Phithakdheva, whose family has been the Atsawathewathin’s royal guard for decades. Khanin lives far away from Emmaly and he doesn’t care about seizing the throne. Charan, as the royal guard, has the duty to bring Khanin back to the country.
The Next Prince (2024) (LunarWire)
‘Khanin’ was caught completely off guard when his ordinary study life suddenly took a dramatic turn due to the unexpected arrival of someone new.
‘Charan,’ a stern-faced, highly skilled bodyguard and nobleman, had flown across the skies with a startling revelation: Khanin was the heir to a royal bloodline in Emmaly and had been chosen to compete for the crown among various noble families.
Khanin’s life was turned upside down. He had to dodge bullets, survive assassination attempts, and face constant danger. Yet, he managed to survive each ordeal with Charan’s help. From adversaries who couldn’t stand each other, they were forced to become allies. However, after being sent to the palace, the person who’d been by Khanin’s side through thick and thin suddenly disappeared. This prompted the young noble to devise a plan to bring Charan back! Thus began the scheme to appoint Charan not only as his bodyguard but also as his close attendant.
What started as a duty… gradually transformed into love.
Meanwhile, secrets from the past were unearthed by those lurking in the shadows, shaking the foundation of their relationship. Khanin and Charan couldn’t foresee whether their destiny, which had brought them together from across the skies, was a stroke of good luck or misfortune.
This is a book that I has been on my TBR list since I saw the trailer for the show. The show features two of my favorite Thai actors and the story sounds captivating, which brings us here, From Page to Screen. I was struggling on when I should read the book. One, before the show starts and anticipate every episode. Two After all the episodes were released so I didn’t have to wait or about halfway through and rewatch the episodes that have been released until they all come out. I chose option three, about halfway. I will be starting the book In June, so the updates will be posted in the weekly Namjooning Readathon updates if you want to follow along.
