I have so many people ask me what is BL? and How did I get into it? So, here is a post answering some questions.

What is BL?

• BL or Boys Love is a genre focusing on male-male romance. This covers comics, manga, dramas, anime etc. BL often overlaps with Yaoi which is more explicit and Shounen which is less explicit. BL serves as a broad umbrella term.

How did I get into BL?

• It is hard for me to pinpoint how I got into the world of BL because it seems like forever ago. But I want to say I found a clip of TharnType on YouTube and needed to know how the story went, and if I remember correctly I read it on wattapad.

I definitely grew an obsession and I knew that I wanted to support the Authors but it was so hard to find where I can find translated books/ shows for them when I did get into them but I soon discovered Viki, iQIYI, GagaOOlala, Tencent Video, Kindle, MEB, Lunarwrite and GMMTV Books. Amazon offered A LOT of stories that I immediately purchased and I think it was the beginning of 2025 when I found out about MEB and Lunarwire and the middle of 2025 GMMTV Books was released. MY go to for BL is MEB and Lunarwire for books and I watch everything on Viki, iQIYI, GagaOOlala, and Tencent Video.

The world of BL can seem very overwhelming or you may feel embarrassed about talking, reading or watching about it but I hope you have found a new genre you can read/watch.
