Let’s build a dragon!

I am so excited because today we will be attempting to create Toothless and Light Fury. I found this pattern off of Pinterest and it seemed fairly easy but with no instructions so bare with me as I attempt to make sense.

We will start off with the head/base which is labeled 3.

What you need:

Abbreviations:

  • MR – Magic Ring
  • X – single crochet
  • V – increase in the same stitch
  • A – decrease
  • slst -slip stitch

Head(3):

  • R1: MR – 6 (6)
  • R2: 6V (12)
  • R3: X, V (18)
  • R4: 2x, V (24)
  • R5: 3x, V (30)
  • R6: 4x, V (36)
  • R7: 5x, V (42)
  • R8-10 Single Crochet all the way around (42)
  • R11: 5x, A (36)
  • R12: 4x, A (30)
    • If you have safety eyes add them to row 6 (or where you think they look best) and about 7 stitches apart.
  • R13: 3x, A (24)
    • Start stuffing with poly-fil
  • R14: 2x, A (18)
  • R15: 1x, A (12)
  • R16: Decrease all the way around. (6) Fasten off.

Whisker? (1):

  • R1: MR – 5 (5)
  • R2-3: Single crochet all the way around. Fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Toothless will have four of these, two for the side of his head and two for the top of his head.

Light Fury will have two.

Ears(2):

  • R1: MR – 6
  • R2: X,V – (9)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Sew the whisker things (1) to the sides of the head a row right above where the eyes go, ears go right above that almost touching. As for the little hairs for Toothless, set them at the top of the head super close to each other on the top middle of his head.

The accent for the eyes, cut out a small circle from the felt, and cut out a bit of the middle so it can be snug up against the eyes. Hot glue it down, or use fabric glue. Whichever one is easier.
