HP Book Update #3
I have finished my reading goal for the month, and honestly, I enjoyed every book I read. In case I didn’t mention before, I have only read three out of the six Harry Potter books but have seen every single Harry Potter movie, including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, at the Curran Theater. My goal initially was to finish all of the books and the Cursed Child before seeing the play, but I only made it to Prisoner of Azkaban.
What truly inspired me to read all of the books in December was my little cousin. She was six years old when she started her goal and only had about two months before turning seven; her goal was to finish them by her birthday so she could visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios, Orlando. Due to the pandemic, she now has to wait, but she had finished her goal with about two weeks to spare, so she started on the other HP books to “kill time.”
She is now seven years old, finished the Series, Fantastic Beasts, The Cursed Child, and the short stories and references the books to the movies. It honestly is the cutest thing ever to watch her read along with the film. I being the older cousin, finished the books within a week due to a couple of 24-hour readathons to have in-depth conversations with a now seven-year-old with an incredible memory.
What made the series even more special to me was listening to how much my little cousin enjoyed the books and listening to her read them to me or getting so excited over a part in the book that she has to call me and talk about it. I will treasure all these moments forever because she is the reason why I enjoy reading.
