I know, I am a worry wart so I like to make sure that Belle is her best and healthiest before leaving on a trip. It may sound a bit crazy and you are more than welcomed to judge me all you want BUT I feel more at ease when I do this.

Emergency Vet:

Wherever we go I make sure to find the closest Emergency Vet and put their number in my phone. Thankfully, I have never had to use this BUT I like to be prepared because I know it would be a high stress situation and and I will be more focused on her than anything else.

Check up:

• I try and get Belle an appointment the week that we leave just to make sure everything is working properly and she is healthy. If I were to Kennel her (which I don’t) she would get a shot to allow her.
• I keep a record of her health and any other important information about Belle on my phone

Groomming:

I like to groom Belle right before the trip because I also like to give her a full check up myself incase I see something that I feel like I need to keep an eye on.

• Bath
• Nails
• Teeth
• Ears
• Trim

Blankets/Toys:

I wash her blankets every week, but when we are leaving for a trip I do laundry for myself anyways so I throw in her blanket as well. So not only is she clean but her blankets are clean as well.

Picking out a toy. Belle doesn’t play with toys but she will cuddle with certain ones. So I keep an eye on which toy she is favoring that week and make sure to pack that one for her. She isn’t going to be left alone but I try to make her as comfortable as possible when she is in a new environment.

Bowls:

She has her own set of travel bowls which I like to hook onto her bag for easy access. I cary a food plate and her water bowl. I make sure to give those another wash because I know that they have been sitting a while.

I know it’s obsessive, but it is something that I like to do because I like to feel prepared. What are something you do to prepare for your trip with a puppy?
