Spellbinding Fried Pies
I love anything Hocus Pocus so when Disney makes Hocus Pocus inspired food I am all about it. The sad part is that I won’t be able to make it to WDW to taste the Spellbinding Fried Pie, so I recreated it at home. The original is a buffalo chicken, mozzarella and blue cheese stuffed in a flaky pastry shell with a jalapeño drizzle and a candy eye. Of course I have to make the original BUT I am also going to make two other fillings and two different wraps for them.
Buffalo Chicken:
- Shredded chicken breasts with a buffalo sauce and fresh mozzarella cheese
- Jalapeño drizzle
- A dot of ranch and a sliced olive for the eye
- Wrapped in a puff pastry
Buffalo Chicken version 2:
- Shredded chicken breasts with a buffalo sauce and fresh mozzarella cheese
- Jalapeño drizzle
- A dot of ranch and a slice olive for the eye
- Wrapped in a flour tortilla
Chicken and Broccoli:
- Shredded chicken breast with broccoli and cream of broccoli
- Cream of broccoli drizzle
- Dot of cream of broccoli and a sliced olive for the eye
- Wrapped in puff pastry
Chicken and Broccoli version 2:
- Shredded chicken breast with broccoli and cream of broccoli
- Cream of broccoli drizzle
- Dot of cream of broccoli and a sliced olive for the eye
- Wrapped in a flour tortilla
Chicken Roja:
- Shredded chicken breast with a red chili sauce, cotija cheese, monterey jack cheese, and tortilla strips
- Tortilla soup drizzle/dipping sauce
- A dot of tortilla soup and slice olive for the eye
- Wrapped in a puff pastry
Chicken Roja version 2:
- Shredded chicken breast with a red chili sauce, cotija cheese, monterey jack cheese, and tortilla strips
- Tortilla soup drizzle/dipping sauce
- A dot of tortilla soup and slice olive for the eye
- Wrapped in a flour tortilla
My all time favorite was the chicken roja. It reminded me of the chicken rojas sandwich that you can get during the Halloween season at Jolly Holiday Baker in Disneyland. I really enjoyed it both ways. Chicken and broccoli was my least favorite and I liked it better in the puff pastry more than the flour tortilla. If you want the recipe I used for any of these please feel free to leave me a comment below.
