I am slightly behind on my anime life, in my defense I like to typically read the manga before I jump into the shows.
So, I started to read bleach but for some reason I was NOT feeling the manga. I jumped right into the live action that you can watch on Netflix. I did it because I absolutely LOVE Miyavi, who plays Byakuva Kuchiki so I thought this would help me get through whatever funk I was experiencing with Bleach and it worked!
Bleach Live Action (2018)
A Japanese teenager with the power to see ghosts must fight against evil spirits and help lost souls find their way to the afterlife.
Bleach – Anime (2006)
For as long as he can remember, Ichigo Kurosaki has been able to see ghosts. But when he meets Rukia, a Soul Reaper who battles evil spirits known as Hollows, he finds his life is changed forever when Rukia transfers most of her powers to him. Now a Soul Reaper himself with a new found wealth of spiritual energy, Ichigo discovers his true calling: to protect the living and the dead from evil. But when Rukia’s actions are called under scrutiny, Ichigo and his friends must put everything on the line to prepare to save their friend from the harsh justice of the Soul Society.
Bleach – Manga
Ichigo Kurosaki has always been able to see ghosts, but this ability doesn’t change his life nearly as much as his close encounter with Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper and member of the mysterious Soul Society. While fighting a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on humans who display psychic energy, Rukia attempts to lend Ichigo some of her powers so that he can save his family; but much to her surprise, Ichigo absorbs every last drop of her energy. Now a full-fledged Soul Reaper himself, Ichigo quickly learns that the world he inhabits is one full of dangerous spirits and, along with Rukia–who is slowly regaining her powers–it’s Ichigo’s job to protect the innocent from Hollows and help the spirits themselves find peace.
I am the only one out of my friends that enjoyed the Live Action Bleach and that’s okay. I understand it is not for everyone and I am that 1% that really enjoys it. I moved on to the Anime, and I am currently finished with the first season and I absolutely LOVED it. As for the manga, I am only 9 volumes in and on a break from them. I do enjoy the art and of course the story, but for some reason I get turned off by the manga and I don’t know why!
Have you read/watched Bleach? What are your thoughts?
